This position is responsible for the collection of various fees including occupational license fees, employee’s license fees (payroll taxes), property taxes, and liquor license fees. The role involves greeting the public, directing calls, answering inquiries, and providing information. Key duties include contacting new businesses regarding tax regulations, checking for delinquent taxes, preparing and issuing occupational and liquor licenses, and collecting and reconciling monthly and quarterly payroll taxes. The clerk will also build and maintain license and payroll tax files, mail renewal notices, file tax liens, and collect current and delinquent property taxes. Additional responsibilities include month-end reporting and balancing, preparing the monthly tax book, scanning bank statements, and processing and reconciling records for insurance premium taxes, EMS revenue, and parking tickets. The position also entails general mail clerk duties, maintaining postage usage files, processing various forms and correspondence, and staying updated on Local, State, and Federal rules and regulations. The incumbent will attend job-related classes and perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Director, Deputy Finance Director, and/or City Manager.
