About The Position

The Corporate Tax Leader - Indirect Tax provides enterprise leadership for indirect tax compliance, planning, audit controversy, registrations, credits and incentives, and related business advisory matters. This role leads property tax, sales and use tax, company registrations, tax and economic incentives, and other special projects while ensuring accurate and timely compliance, effective risk management, successful audit outcomes, scalable processes, and strong partnership with business and functional stakeholders. The role also leads process and technology improvements, manages external service providers supports M&A and integration activities and develops talent within the tax function.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant progressive experience.
  • Demonstrated process focus and organized work style.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and implement process improvements.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen; effective problem-solving skills.
  • Exhibits safety leadership in mindset and actions.
  • Understanding of tax law and ability to research tax topics to stay current on changes in tax law.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) skills; proficiency with Vertex and TaxWare or other equivalent transaction tax calculation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted tax advisor to key stakeholders on sales and use tax, property tax, credits, incentives and business growth initiatives.
  • Be knowledgeable of the organization’s strategic direction, the project work that supports the direction, and the implications of the business.
  • Understand the relationships with our customers and what it takes to ensure their success.
  • Know what best-in-class service organizations do and obtain outside-in market insights to understand and then do what it takes to make Owens Corning the “easiest to do business with”.
  • Develop and execute the indirect tax strategy for property tax, sales and use tax, tax incentives and grants, and other special projects ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Direct and collaborate with outside service providers on compliance, audits and planning.
  • Manage the reconciliation of the sales, use and property tax accounts to ensure taxes accruals and audit reserves are properly reflected and maintained.
  • Lead the optimization of indirect tax processes and technology solutions, ensuring efficient, scalable, and sustainable operations that support business growth and transformation initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by challenging existing processes, leveraging data and analytics, and implementing best practices to improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and enhance stakeholder experience.
  • Provide indirect tax and incentives leadership for acquisitions, divestitures, integrations, and business restructuring activities, including due diligence, compliance onboarding, systems alignment, and risk mitigation.
  • Track, review and implement new legislative changes.
  • Prepare models and detailed written memoranda as necessary to identify, analyze, resolve, and document tax issues associated with proposed transactions, tax planning strategies and refund claims.
  • Effective and regular communication with other business and functions and external partners.
  • Coach and mentor Tax Analysts in analyzing indirect tax issues and propose and implement solutions using discretion and independent judgment while adhering to strict deadlines and service levels.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team by setting clear priorities, building technical capability, strengthening standard work, and creating an inclusive environment focused on accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide impactful peer-to-peer leadership, contributing to their development.
  • Act as a resource leader by teaching financial acumen and business information concepts to ensure that financial based decision-making occurs throughout the corporation.
