About The Position

The Return Utah program is similar to an internship designed for adults looking to re-enter the workforce after an extended absence. These opportunities are structured as return-to-work positions that provide the experience, training, skills, and mentoring an individual need to return to the workforce. Return Utah is a 16-week program for people who have taken a career break for at least one years or more for reasons such as starting or raising a family, caring for a family member, chronic illness, enhanced education, other personal/career related needs, etc. Those serving, separated, or retired from military service and their spouses and/or partners are not required to meet the two-year requirement. A career break of any length makes them eligible to participate in the program. This is a temporary (benefitted), full-time position for potential Return Utah candidates. To be eligible for this return-to-work opportunity, candidates must: Be on a career break of one or more years at time of application unless currently serving, recently separated, retired from military service, or supporting a military spouse/partner. Have prior professional experience in functional area of interest. This recruitment may be filled from either application option, Return Utah or the standard application option. The Utah State Tax Commission's Special Services Division is looking for a skilled and motivated individual to fill its Tax Compliance Agent I - Special Events position. This person will play an integral role in Division's mission to answer taxpayer inquires. You must be current on your state and federal tax filings and pass a FBI level background check.

Requirements

  • Can handle being on the phone for a majority of the workday in a contact call center.
  • Has exceptional customer service skills.
  • Has the ability to explain tax laws in a clear and concise way.
  • Has the ability to work in an adverse environment dealing with upset people over the phone.
  • Experience working in a call center environment.
  • Speak Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Attend special events and collect sales tax at events
  • Answer phones and provide information to customers
  • Update excel worksheets
  • Research and respond to taxpayer inquiries
  • Accept payments over the phone and in person
  • Explain and apply policies and procedures to taxpayers
  • Works well both in the office and from home
  • Able to manage time efficiently
