About The Position

Wake County Tax Administration is looking for a Tax Agent to join their team. This role offers competitive pay, excellent benefits, and job stability. The position involves resolving customer inquiries, processing payments, and managing delinquent accounts. New employees receive comprehensive training and may have the opportunity to work a rotating hybrid schedule after approximately six months. Requirements

Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
One year of experience in property tax, public finance, or similar setting.
Equivalent education and experience are accepted.
Outstanding customer service skills with a genuine desire to offer patience to all customers.
Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to make good decisions and apply sound reasoning to resolve issues in a pleasant and professional manner.
Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize duties.
Proficiency with technology and the ability to use multiple applications simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

Two years of experience in a professional business environment with heavy customer service.
Two years of experience in a local or state government office performing duties directly related to those of a Tax Agent.

Responsibilities

Resolving customer inquiries by phone or in person, including researching accounts, accepting payments, establishing payment arrangements, or explaining tax laws.
Processing payments received electronically or by mail.
Initiating collection actions on delinquent accounts.
Updating records for business, real estate, and individual property.
