About The Position

The Tax Accountant will report to the Controller and will be responsible for many day-to-day accounting operations with a focus on tax. This is a great opportunity to gain broad, hands-on exposure to tax and accounting operations while collaborating closely with the Controller and cross-functional teams such as operations. This position will be located at our West Little Rock, AR corporate headquarters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and/or 0-2+ years of experience in accounting preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general ledger/ERP accounting software.
  • Candidates must be 18 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, now and in the future, without the need for employer sponsorship of a work visa (e.g., H-1B) now or in the future. If hired, you must provide proof that you are legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA or progress toward CPA licensure a plus.
  • Previous Wire & Cable experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file sales and use tax schedules, returns, payments, and reports across applicable jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and on-time submission
  • Maintain the company's tax calendar and related due date list, track filing deadlines across all applicable tax types to ensure nothing is missed
  • Assist in researching and resolving tax notices, discrepancies, and errors arising from prior filings, supporting the team member who leads this area as needed
  • Assist in preparing quarterly and annual tax reports and supporting schedules for internal and external reporting needs, such as property tax filings, annual reports, and business license renewals
  • Stay current with tax law changes and industry trends, and apply relevant updates to company policies and processes
  • Maintain fixed asset records, including the ledger (additions, disposals, and transfers); reconcile the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger monthly; calculate and record depreciation; and work closely with operations to ensure capital expenditures are properly capitalized and accurately reported
  • Perform bookkeeping for related entities, including recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial statements as needed
