About The Position

Werner Enterprises offers an 11-week summer internship that provides classroom learning with real-world experience at its Corporate Headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. The paid internship includes dedicated job training, learning opportunities, a collaborative and inclusive work environment, and exposure to Workday Financials. Some remote and off-site opportunities may be available. Paid housing or housing assistance may be available. The intern will support tax preparation, recordkeeping, research, planning, and process improvement, while collaborating with teams across finance, legal, and operations. Internship development activities include Lessons with Leaders sessions, a mentor program, intern activities, community support events, networking, and a summer project proposal and presentation. Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Completion of introductory tax and accounting coursework is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with preparation of sales and use tax filings, property taxes, fuel and miles tax filings, and income tax returns.
Help maintain tax records and documentation for audits and compliance.
Conduct tax research and summarize findings for the tax team.
Participate in special projects related to tax planning and process improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations.
