About The Position

The Tasting Room Attendant is responsible for delivering exceptional hospitality, guiding guests through curated wine flights, and offering personalized recommendations. This role shares the winery’s story and varietal profiles, keeps up with current wine trends and service standards, and maintains an inviting tasting environment focused on driving sales.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One + years’ experience as Tasting Room Attendant or Bartender in a high volume, upscale Hotel or luxury winery environment
  • Thorough knowledge of Wine Varietals, Tasting Flights, winemaking methods, glassware, and proper service etiquette
  • Certification of training in Responsible Vendor requirements or ability to obtain same
  • Exceptional guest service skills and up-selling skills
  • Basic computer, POS, and cash handling skills
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds repetitively during entire shift
  • Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays
  • CA food handler’s card is required or the ability to obtain with the first 30 days of employment.
  • RSB card is required or the ability to obtain with the first 30 days of employment and be minimum of 21 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains current knowledge of all featured wine varietals, winemaking techniques, and menu pairings
  • Prepares all necessary tasting setups, water service, and side of offerings prior to start of service and during shift
  • Sets up tasting room service area with all necessary glassware, menus, and supplies prior to start of service
  • Cleans, polishes, and restocks glassware and tasting supplies throughout shift
  • Greet guests in a polite, professional manner according to service standards
  • Determines guests’ preferences and suggestively up-sells bottle purchases to enhance the guest experience
  • Records all aspects of guest orders accurately and enters them into POS computer terminal
  • Pours wine flights, single glasses, and non-alcoholic options to order upon request
  • Serve guests in a polite, professional manner according to established brand standards
  • Monitors guests to prevent overindulgence, verifies legal drinking age, and ensures guest safety
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of tasting bar and guest seating areas at all times
  • Prepares and presents accurate record of guest charges
  • Collects monies due and applies charges to guest accounts and room folios using a POS terminal
  • Completes end of shift revenue reports and cash deposits
  • Inventories all wines, merchandise, and operating supplies; orders or requisitions replacement stock as needed
  • Performs all closing duties and secures all wine inventory, POS terminals, and physical facilities
  • Other duties as assigned
