About The Position
Join Our Team as an Assistant Manager at St. Julian Winery's NEW Gaylord Tasting Room! Be part of something exciting from the very beginning! St. Julian Winery is opening a brand-new tasting room in Gaylord, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused Assistant Tasting Room Manager to help build our team and create an exceptional guest experience from day one. If you are passionate about leadership, hospitality, and Michigan wine, this is a unique opportunity to help launch our newest location while growing your career with Michigan's oldest and largest winery. For over 100 years, St. Julian Winery has been crafting award-winning wines and spirits while creating memorable experiences for our guests. As we continue to grow, we are excited to bring the St. Julian experience to Northern Michigan with our newest tasting room in Gaylord.
Requirements
- Positive, hands-on leadership style
- Passion for customer service and hospitality
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to coach and motivate a team
- Organized, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Weekend, evening, and holiday availability
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be at least 21 years of age
Nice To Haves
- Two or more years of retail, hospitality, restaurant, or customer service experience
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience
- Wine knowledge is a plus—but we are happy to teach the right candidate!
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Tasting Room Manager to oversee daily operations
- Lead and inspire a team committed to delivering outstanding customer service
- Conduct engaging wine tastings and create memorable guest experiences
- Support merchandising, displays, and promotional activities
- Assist with scheduling, coaching, and developing team members
- Help coordinate tasting room events and community engagement
- Ensure the tasting room operates efficiently while maintaining St. Julian's high standards
Benefits
- Competitive starting base pay of $18.00 per hour. With tips, our Assistant Managers typically earn around $27.00 per hour on average.
