About The Position

NACG is seeking a Tandem Water Truck Operator to join their remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This role offers a combined rate of up to $45.60/hour and opportunities for growth. The position is located at the Fort Hills site with a schedule of 14 days on and 7 days off, rotating between day and night shifts. Camp accommodation and transportation from Edmonton, Calgary, or Fort McMurray are provided. Overtime is paid after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week. Successful candidates will become members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working as a Water Truck Operator
  • Minimum one year experience in mining atmosphere
  • Class 1, or Class 3 or Q endorsement for air brakes
  • A safety-first attitude
  • Attentive and possess strong listening skills
  • Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to provide a recent Driver’s Abstract
  • Valid CSO or BSO
  • Silica Awareness
  • Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness
  • Hydroden Sulphide
  • OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness
  • Be subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
  • Undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing: Breath Alcohol Test, Urine Drug Test, Fitness-to-Work Health Assessment, Audiometric Testing, Vision Screening, Criminal Record Check

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with trash pumps and wiggle wagons will be an asset.
  • High school diploma, GED, and/or post-secondary education is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Tandem Water Trucks in a mining or heavy construction earthworks environment
  • Complete pre-use equipment inspections to ensure equipment is in safe operating condition
  • Complete field level risk/hazard assessments prior to tasks and as tasks change.
  • Participate in the safe fueling and servicing of equipment
  • Follow mine driving rules
  • Interact with other contractor and client equipment
  • Ensure compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies, operating standards, and procedures
  • Using adequate and suitable safety equipment, including all required PPE
  • Reviewing safe work plans/ hazard assessment with prior to job commencement and follow all requirements
  • Report any necessary repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors
  • Report all incidents, near misses or damage immediately
