Talent Management Specialist - Tribal Operations

About The Position

The Talent Management Specialist is responsible for supporting performance management, leadership course development, succession planning, early career programs and processes, and onboarding new hires and integration for the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) and its Tribal Operations departments and enterprises. This includes communications, delivering training, and focus on program administration, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or other related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in talent management related to leadership training, talent assessments, and creating reports.
  • Demonstrated competence and experience in broad fields of human resources, including organizational design, change management, performance management, and talent assessments.
  • Experience in delivering leadership training and helping build leadership curriculums.
  • Strong writing skills, including the ability to write in different styles to reflect the nature of the stakeholder, audience, and message.
  • Experience creating content firsthand through a variety of mediums (e.g., email, social media, podcasts, and video).
  • Essential skills for this position include collaboration, ability to manage multiple projects at one time, flexibility, comfort with change, and a drive to innovate.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) Suite.
  • Demonstrated organizational, critical thinking, problem-solving, and process analysis skills.
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of talent assessment, career development, succession planning, performance management, leadership curriculum, and rotational development programs.
  • Develop, co-lead, and deliver new hire onboarding (e.g., content development, logistics, presentation delivery, and coordination with other presenters).
  • Coordinate talent activities such as talent reviews, training sessions, promotion celebrations, development events, and any other talent initiatives.
  • Manage program timelines, logistics, and communications across the businesses on early career initiatives.
  • Support early career onboarding and offboarding for interns, along with coordination of events.
  • Provide reports on talent summary to inform HR Business Partners and leaders as part of organization structure decisions and internal talent movements.
  • Develop and maintain internal websites to create content such as job aids, guides, presentations, and any other documents.
  • Maintain leadership courses in learning management module of human capital management (HCM) system and communicate courses and updates to leaders, team members, and HR.
