About The Position

Jennings Mechanical is growing and seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist – Construction & Skilled Trades to help build the team that will drive this growth. This role involves working directly with hiring managers, actively sourcing candidates, building talent pipelines, and recruiting for a wide range of positions, from skilled trades and field roles to project management and office positions. A key aspect of this role is understanding the construction and skilled-trades labor market and knowing how to identify, engage, and attract candidates who may not be actively applying online.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of recruiting or talent acquisition experience within construction, mechanical contracting, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or another skilled-trades environment.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting skilled trades or construction professionals.
  • Experience managing multiple openings simultaneously.
  • Ability to actively source candidates, not solely relying on job applications.
  • Strong phone, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with candidates and hiring managers.
  • Strong organization and follow-through skills.
  • Comfortable making outbound calls and conducting recruiting outreach.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience recruiting for a mechanical contractor or similar specialty contractor.
  • Existing relationships or recruiting networks within the Charleston construction and skilled-trades market.
  • Experience recruiting HVAC technicians, plumbers, project managers, estimators, or other mechanical-construction roles.
  • Experience with Indeed, LinkedIn Recruiter, or an applicant tracking system.

Responsibilities

  • Own recruiting for assigned positions from job opening through offer.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand their specific needs.
  • Source candidates through various channels including Indeed, LinkedIn, referrals, networking, trade schools, and other relevant platforms.
  • Conduct resume reviews and initial phone screenings.
  • Coordinate interviews and manage the candidate progression through the hiring process.
  • Build talent pipelines for hard-to-fill positions proactively.
  • Develop relationships with skilled tradespeople, construction professionals, and other potential candidates.
  • Represent Jennings at career fairs, trade schools, and recruiting events.
  • Contribute to strengthening Jennings' reputation as an employer of choice within the construction and skilled-trades community.
  • Track recruiting activity to analyze effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Identify and implement new strategies to reach passive candidates.
