About The Position

The Talent Acquisition Advisor will be responsible for proactively planning, sourcing, assessing, and qualifying best-in-class talent for Enrolment Services positions at McGill University. This role also involves identifying, developing, and implementing cost-effective, innovative solutions relevant to staffing requirements and contributing to an online/social media presence. McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 on a scale of 0-4.

Requirements

  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and undertake end-to-end recruitment and selection process (job description, pre-screening, interviewing, testing, reference checking, and offer letter…)
  • Ensure delivery of best practices to support Enrolment Services Leadership and Unit Strategic Planning needs.
  • Identify the right sourcing channels and segments to source best-in-class talent & support ES succession planning.
  • Utilize and maintain recruitment activities within Workday, ensuring data integrity, accurate tracking, and timely processing of staffing actions.
  • Promote and integrate equity, diversity, and inclusion principles in recruitment practices, ensuring fair and unbiased selection processes.
  • Partner closely with HR colleagues to share candidates, leverage new sourcing channels, share best practices, and provide support as required.
  • Report directly to the Human Resources Advisor, proactively addressing needs and issues and providing appropriate support during peak periods to meet casual hiring & other staffing requirements.
  • Use behavioral interviewing assessment techniques to validate top candidates’ skills, providing trusted expert advice to hiring managers throughout the assessment process.
  • Develop strong working relationships with internal clients to understand and identify current and future talent needs and advise on talent acquisition processes, activities, and outcomes.
  • Liaise with Total Compensation and HR teams regarding job evaluations, salary alignment, and position management.
  • Ensure adherence to all University’s staffing policies, procedures, and collective agreements.
  • Participate in process improvement activities related to talent acquisition such as social media presence, webpage design, use of online tools, and reducing recruitment cycle time.
  • Prepare and analyze a variety of statistics regarding staffing. Helps develop appropriate tools for statistical analyses and benchmark best practices.
  • Complete a variety of electronic forms and documentation pertaining to human resources functions (e.g., staffing, compensation).
  • Managing HR files and updating records involves creating a secure, organized system for tracking employee data from onboarding to termination. Effective management requires storing documents securely, complying with retention policies.
  • Manage and process replacement funding for employees on maternity or parental leave, ensuring accurate and timely administration.
  • Oversee and coordinate probationary/trial periods, including tracking timelines, reminding supervisors of key milestones, and supporting the completion of evaluations in accordance with University policies and collective agreements.
  • Take ownership of the onboarding process, ensuring its effective coordination and delivery.
  • Timely address issues and advise appropriate solutions to the supervisor to resolve staffing problems.
  • Perform other related adhocs as required.
