About The Position

This role involves operating, maintaining, repairing, inspecting, testing, and exercising electrical generation equipment to ensure continuous regulated power for Cavalier SFS. The position requires performing preventive maintenance, correcting malfunctions, and maintaining alarm and shutdown systems. Responsibilities include maintaining engine logs and equipment records, assisting with station housekeeping, and performing routine inspections and repairs on electrical power generating and distribution equipment. This includes major inspections and repairs on alternators, excitation systems, generator and distribution switchgear, high and low voltage power circuit breakers, and control/alarm circuits. The role also involves testing, calibration, and adjusting generator and switchgear protective relays, as well as performing preventive electrical maintenance on diesel engine generator ancillary systems. Coordination with CE resources may be required. The operator will maintain and control RPIE assets, operate and maintain RP, RPIE, and EAID generators and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), and program depot-level maintenance for PP generators. Developing and coordinating a generator refueling plan is also a key responsibility, along with maintaining specific voltage and frequency standards. Adherence to OSHA/AFOSH, safety, and housekeeping standards is mandatory. The position also includes training, general housekeeping, safety and environmental practices, requisitioning parts, monitoring bench stock, maintaining data/logs/files, complying with security policies, and participating in exercises.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade School in power production or similar Military Training.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in Electrical Power Production.
  • Successful completion of EEI POSS/MASS Test
  • Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
  • Employment and start date are contingent upon the candidate receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, repair, inspect, test, and exercise electrical generation equipment to provide continuous regulated power to Cavalier SFS.
  • Accomplish required preventive maintenance on all equipment in the power plant.
  • Perform periodic maintenance and correct malfunctions on all power plant equipment.
  • Maintain the alarm and shutdown systems.
  • Maintain engine logs and equipment records; assist with station housekeeping and other duties, as directed.
  • Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair on all electrical power generating and distribution equipment.
  • Perform all major inspections and repair maintenance on the alternators, excitation systems, generator and distribution switchgear, high and low voltage power circuit breakers, control, and alarm circuits.
  • Perform all testing, calibration, and adjusting of the generator and switchgear protective relays in accordance with the established preventive maintenance schedules and concurrent with preventive maintenance inspections performed on the generator diesel engines.
  • Perform preventive electrical maintenance inspections, tests, and repair on the diesel engine generator ancillary systems, which include items such as pump motors, control, and alarm circuits.
  • Coordinate CE resources to assist with required tasks or expertise.
  • Maintain and control RPIE assets.
  • Operate, maintain, repair, inspect, test and exercise RP, RPIE and EAID generators and Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS).
  • Program depot-level maintenance (20,000 and 40,000 hours) of PP generators three years in advance.
  • Develop and coordinate generator refueling plan. Review plan annually.
  • Maintain voltage within 4160 VAC + 2% and maintain frequency at 60-hertz + 1/2 hertz.
  • Maintain OSHA/AFOSH, safety and good housekeeping standards.
  • Accomplish training as directed.
  • Perform other duties not limited to general housekeeping, safety and environmental practices, requisitions parts, monitors bench stock, supply point, maintains data/logs/files, complies with security policies, PWS directive publications, completes ancillary training and participates in exercises.
