Requirements

High school education or equivalent (GED).
Ability to pass an extensive screening process.
At least 1 year of armed security experience.
Valid state driver's license.
Clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Report).
Must be at least 21 years or older.
Previous military, law enforcement, or armed guard experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead and assign day-to-day responsibilities to the team.
Perform duties such as scheduling, performance reports, continuing in-service training, crew and program evaluation, and disciplinary action.
Provide armed visual security services to ensure a safe environment.
Attempt to stop criminal conduct and street disorder.
Work closely with Portland Police Bureau to report criminal activities.
Avoid participation in arrests or criminal investigations except in an emergency or when directed by Portland Police Bureau officers.
Engage in problem-solving at the request of the Portland Police Bureau and community policing strategies.
Maintain a daily log and file incident reports.
Communicate via radio with Shift Supervisors, Portland Police Bureau officers, and other public agencies.
Abide by Oregon State law and Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) certification standards.
Commit to further training beyond DPSST certification standards, specifically in de-escalation techniques, mental health crisis response, trauma-informed care interventions, and social service safety net referrals if requested.
