Systems Validation Engineer

NVIDIA•Santa Clara, CA
•$108,000 - $212,750

About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking a Systems Validation Engineer to join its Datacenter Systems Engineering team. The engineer will work closely with board designers, Silicon Solutions, and AE teams to validate and characterize system power management controllers for NVIDIA datacenter modules. The role is suited to a self-motivated person comfortable working in a lab environment, with a strong interest in product-level system validation, debug and circuit analysis, and automation and scripting. The engineer should be able to grow in a fast-paced environment with evolving product definitions. The position focuses on developing and executing validation test plans for server platforms and modules; validating electrical and functional behavior of interfaces and components; and diagnosing, debugging, and resolving system issues during new product introduction builds. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes across hardware, firmware, software, and interoperability issues. Base salary depends on location, experience, and other job-related factors. The listed salary ranges are $108,000–$184,000 for Level 2 and $136,000–$212,750 for Level 3. The role is also eligible for equity and benefits.

Requirements

  • BSEE, BSCE, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on hardware/software debug experience.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and independently seek information to solve complex hardware validation challenges.
  • Strong ability to debug and root cause system issues involving board-level failures, signal integrity, component-level problems, and firmware behavior.
  • Lab experience with board bring-up and hardware debug, including use of logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
  • Strong understanding of digital design, circuit design analysis, and computer architecture.

Nice To Haves

  • Solid understanding of low-level system architecture, digital circuit design, and high-speed bus protocols such as PCIe, USB, and NVMe, including how hardware integrates with firmware and software stacks.
  • Experience leading hands-on debugging and root cause analysis across hardware and firmware layers to drive rapid issue resolution and product quality improvements.
  • Hands-on experience in system-level power management validation for CPU and GPU products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute validation test plans for server platforms and modules.
  • Perform electrical and functional validation of key interfaces and components, including power sensors, MCUs, I2C, SPI, SMBus, and PCIe.
  • Diagnose and resolve system issues during NPI builds to support timely and successful product launches.
  • Debug and determine root causes of hardware, firmware, and interoperability issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to root cause and resolve hardware and software issues.
