About The Position

The Senior Systems Validation Engineer manages and maintains traceability between customer and internal requirements, prioritizes road systems and map features, and establishes clear feature definitions and success criteria. The role works with engineering and other internal teams to maintain map-production deadlines, ensure quality assurance, develop automated validation procedures, and evaluate new methods and technologies while maintaining requirements compliance and quality targets. The engineer also develops validation methods for new content and technologies, performs validation activities, and mentors coworkers on best practices and requirements gathering. The position operates in a fast-paced office environment with multiple priorities and competing demands. It generally follows regular office hours, with some additional work during busy periods, and may involve long periods reviewing data on a computer.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in GIS, geography, planning, computer science, information technology, or a related discipline; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in engineering focused on Production/Manufacturing.
Five years of professional experience in GIS mapping or Data Quality Management.
Strong understanding of change management processes and production workflows.
Experience with process documentation and process mapping.
Proven ability to perform root cause analysis.
Experience using structured problem-solving methodologies, such as 8D.
Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
Analytical mindset focused on data quality and customer impact.

Nice To Haves

Experience in database-driven production environments.
Knowledge of production release or publishing workflows.
Continuous improvement experience, such as Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
Experience in GIS or map-building areas.
Automotive or sensor experience.
Experience with robotics or automated vehicular controls.

Responsibilities

Collect, manage, and maintain traceability between customer and internal specifications.
Prioritize road systems and map features across customers, data availability, internal goals, and conflicting inputs.
Generate and disseminate formal definitions for all map features.
Work with engineering teams to maintain map-production deadlines and ensure quality assurance across map features.
Collaborate with the team to develop success criteria for all map features.
Collaborate with the team to develop testing procedures for automated validation of map-building efforts.
Collect, index, validate, and store diverse datasets for regression targeting each map feature.
Mentor coworkers on best practices and requirements gathering.
Present to internal and external customers.
Work with internal teams on trade studies evaluating new methods and technologies to improve efficiency while maintaining requirements compliance and quality targets.
Develop validation methods for new content and technologies.
Perform validation activities as required.
