About The Position

The Systems Thinking Programming Student Coordinator will support Map the System and systems thinking educational programming within the Center for Careers, Life, and Service. This role involves assisting with publicity, coordination of information sessions and workshops, mentoring student participants, serving as a liaison to campus constituencies, and aiding in the planning of a final presentation event. The coordinator will also attend team meetings and provide general program support.

Requirements

  • Entering second through fourth year of study at Grinnell College.
  • Ability to learn systems thinking concepts and systems mapping tools such as KUMU.
  • Ability to mentor other students in systems thinking concepts and systems mapping tools.
  • Sharp attention to details, deadlines, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to synthesize and objectively communicate complex data and concepts.
  • Ability to communicate professionally across cultural differences both in writing and orally.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams, Canva, PowerPoint, and social media platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with creation and distribution of publicity for Map the System and systems thinking student information sessions and workshops, including tabling and print and social media marketing.
  • Assist with coordination of Map the System and systems thinking student information sessions and workshops, including sign-ins, presenter materials, and providing input on student training needs.
  • Serve as a student mentor for Map the System and systems thinking program participants, including student support for systems mapping tools (KUMU, etc.).
  • Serve as student liaison to increase connections between Map the System and systems thinking programming with pertinent campus constituencies.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of final campus Map the System presentation event during the spring semester.
  • Attend regular Social Innovation student team meetings and trainings.
  • Assist Civic Education and Innovation staff with other program support as needed.
