About The Position

This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage. The role works under the direction of the Infrastructure Manager to support Municipal infrastructure services, compute, storage, network and enterprise applications. Adheres to Information Technology Department policies and procedures to support and provision services in a secure and standard manner. Provides technical consultation and support to users and other IT staff. Leads technical projects and resources to achieve high-complexity solutions. Diagnoses, isolates and debugs software problems and performs problem resolution. Monitors systems capacity and performance and provides complex technical support. Reviews, advises and designs standard software and hardware builds, system options, risks, costs vs. benefits and impact on the enterprise business process and goals. Develops and documents the framework for integration and implementation for changes to technical standards. Tracks industry trends and maintains knowledge of new technologies to better serve the enterprise's architecture needs. Perform other required duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and nine (9) years of experience in the field related to the position.
  • OR Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or similar discipline, and seven (7) years of experience in the field related to the position.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or similar discipline, and five (5) years of experience in the field related to the position.
  • OR Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required non-specialized experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must possess and/or obtain: Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver's License and satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL databases, AzureAD, Microsoft O365, Network Appliance (NetApp), VMware vSphere & Horizon, F5 BigIP, Gigamon, VastData, and AD Manager Plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Certification in MCP, MCSA, or MCSE.
  • NetApp Certified Storage Associate or higher.
  • VMware VCA-DCV or higher.
