About The Position

This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage. The actual salary for this position may be eligible for a ten percent (10%) incentive due to a Supervisory Compensation Adjustment. This is to ensure that supervisors are fairly compensated in comparison to those persons they supervise. The Adjustment may be discontinued at any time, if the Mayor determines the adjustment is no longer warranted. To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field and five ( 5 ) years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
  • Must possess a valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
  • Registered as a professional engineer in the State of Alaska at time of hire.
  • Legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States.
  • Satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted Background Check (criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment).
  • Submission of a current copy of the applicant's Alaska Driver's License, and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of his/her Department of Motor Vehicle driving record, including a driving record from previous states, if the Alaska Driver's License was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history.

  • Strong background in civil design and construction management desired.
  • Ability to function under limited supervision and able to manage multiple projects and tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising, work planning, prioritizing, assigning, reviewing, and technical direction of Project Management section staff.
  • Manages all design through construction phases of AWWU capital improvement projects including construction negotiations and making recommendations on disposition of claims.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
