About The Position

Daikin Applied is seeking a visionary Systems Solutions Manager (SSM) to define and champion the future of Daikin Applied’s integrated HVAC system solutions. This is a high-impact role for a systems thinker who thrives at the intersection of engineering, customer insight, and market influence. The SSM will own the development of a compelling systems narrative—internally and externally—translating complex HVAC capabilities into differentiated, customer-centric solutions. Leveraging deep expertise in HVAC system design and a nuanced understanding of customer challenges, this leader will identify and orchestrate the critical system-level attributes, technologies, and service offerings that together deliver value far beyond individual components. This includes defining integrated system approaches such as heat pump–based electrification, hybrid plant architectures, and smart, connected HVAC systems that deliver measurable outcomes in energy efficiency, sustainability, IEQ, and building performance. Starting from a clear strategic vision aligned with Daikin’s core strengths, the SSM will shape and influence the roadmap for next-generation technologies, products, and integrated solutions. Working with a high degree of autonomy, this role will develop strategic frameworks and guidance that inform innovation priorities and accelerate execution across the organization. Equally important, the SSM will bring these solutions to life in the market—creating compelling content and thought leadership that educates, engages, and influences customers. By clearly articulating building-level outcomes and total system value, the SSM will elevate Daikin’s position as a trusted solutions partner. This role intersects with the entire solution lifecycle—from ideation and strategy through stakeholder alignment, development, and go-to-market deployment. The SSM will act as a trusted subject matter expert (SME) in HVAC systems, partnering closely with marketing, sales, product, and leadership teams to drive alignment, enablement, and business impact.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
• Engineering or related field
• 8-10 years of relevant experience in HVAC industry
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
• Team-oriented mindset
• Strong history of aligning different stakeholders with competing priorities towards a common goal
• Sales-aware mindset with the ability to influence customer design decisions and guide solution alignment.
• Project management skills to coordinate efforts across multiple groups to influence without authority
• Deep HVAC experience, preferably with a variety of different kinds of systems - both air-side and chilled water
• Strong story-telling and communication skills
• Capable of independent operation
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
• Coachable, with innate curiosity to drive professional growth
• Strong ability to articulate both HVAC system-level design and product-level technical detail in executive and customer-facing settings

Nice To Haves

• 10 + years of relevant experience
• Professional Engineering (P.E.) license
• Demonstrated writing capability preferred
• Energy modeling experience
• Familiarity with key industry mega trends such as decarbonization, the refrigerant transition, and IAQ
• Established Industry Group participation or leadership (e.g. ASHRAE) preferred
• HVAC system design experience as a consulting engineer or sales rep

Responsibilities

• Define and lead Daikin Applied’s systems solutions strategy and narrative
• Translate customer pain points into differentiated, integrated HVAC solutions
• Be a central figure in driving alignment across DAA on System Strategies
• Influence product and technology roadmaps to align with long-term strategic vision
• Develop and deliver high-impact content that communicates system-level value to the market
• Serve as a cross-functional leader and HVAC systems expert to support business growth
• Translate customer pain points into differentiated, integrated HVAC solutions strategies and drive alignment with business units and other internal stakeholders to shape product and solutions roadmaps based on an aligned system strategy, ensuring delivery of high-value, system-level innovations that support our strategic system story narratives
• Serve as a trusted SME, translating deep knowledge of HVAC system design, performance, and application into actionable guidance
• Deploy content to communicate systems narratives to engineers, developers, architects, and end users through direct engagement and presentations
• Continuously capture field feedback, monitor competitive dynamics, and translate insights into actionable opportunities. Maintain a prioritized list of opportunities for future execution for content development, new technology exploration, and system solutions
• For new products under development, ideate and guide the product manager for how these products will integrate into the broader Daikin system story, and manage creation of content deliverables to support the product launch
• Aligned with new product and solutions introductions, develop high-impact technical content (white papers, webinars, presentations, and publications) that communicates system-level value to the market, educating and influencing the adoption of Daikin solutions by customers
• Represent Daikin Applied within key professional organizations (e.g., ASHRAE, USGBC, AEE) to enhance brand credibility and influence industry direction
• Guide organizational M&A and internal technology development prioritization and opportunity evaluation by delivery of early-stage assessments for potential technology opportunities for systems solutions enablement
• Support Daikin customer sales events and gather voice of customer feedback through business travel. 25-35% travel is typical, with flexibility to support up to 50% in any given month
