About The Position

V2X is seeking a Systems Security Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN supporting cybersecurity for advanced mission systems. These systems include mission computers, avionics, sensors, and mission equipment for airborne and ground platforms. As a Systems Security Intern, you will work with experienced security and systems engineers to help protect mission critical systems through secure configurations, vulnerability management, and RMF support activities.

Requirements

  • Completed introductory coursework in cybersecurity, information assurance, or networking
  • Self-driven with a strong sense of accountability, able to manage tasks and deliver quality work on schedule.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s (or Master’s) Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related discipline.

  • Fundamental understanding of System Security processes
  • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools, STIG concepts, and basic hardening procedures

Responsibilities

  • Assist with security documentation, baseline hardening, evidence collection, and basic assessment tasks while learning DoD RMF and NIST guidance.
  • Collaborate within cross functional Integrated Product Teams where effective communication and teamwork are important.
  • Assist with system categorization and initial control mapping to NIST SP 800 53
  • Support development and maintenance of System Security Plans, POA&Ms, and security evidence repositories
  • Help execute baseline vulnerability scans and document findings for remediation tracking
  • Apply standard configuration baselines and STIG checklists to assigned lab or development components under guidance
  • Assist in assembling inputs for Security Assessment Plans and assessment activities
  • Support basic control verification activities and collect test evidence during integration or lab events
