About The Position
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work on a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience in mechanical engineering. You will contribute to the development of technical products and systems as part of a dynamic team, gaining industry insights and developing your engineering skills. This is a paid, full-time hybrid internship for the summer, from May through August 2027, based at Westinghouse's Cranberry, Pennsylvania facility. You will report to the Systems Engineering and Special Programs Manager.
Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Completed sophomore year of college.
- Proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD.
- Previous internship or project experience in mechanical engineering.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and analysis of mechanical systems and components.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, reports, and calculation notes.
- Support ongoing projects by authoring and verifying non-conformance reports.
- Participate in technical presentations and written communications for customers and management.
- Research new technologies and manufacturing processes.
- Solve technical engineering problems.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to improve processes and design assembly fixtures.
- Participate in design reviews and present technical designs and analysis results to team members.
- Support the department with necessary technical, lab testing, or clerical work.
