What You'll Do In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise. KLA is seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineer (MDE) to join the BBP Final Integration Systems team. In this role, you will support the integration, calibration, qualification, troubleshooting, and manufacturing readiness of advanced semiconductor inspection systems. Working closely with Manufacturing, Systems Engineering, Product Engineering, Service, Quality, Supply Chain, and NPI teams, you will help ensure high-quality tool builds, resolve technical issues, and support the successful production and shipment of next-generation inspection platforms. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with experience in complex electromechanical systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and a passion for solving technical challenges in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
3+ years of experience in semiconductor capital equipment, systems integration, manufacturing engineering, or complex electromechanical systems.
Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and system-level issues.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause investigation skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional environment.
Requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.

Nice To Haves

Experience with semiconductor inspection, metrology, or lithography equipment.
Knowledge of optical systems, precision motion control, sensors, robotics, vacuum systems, or precision alignment technologies.
Experience supporting manufacturing escalations, product investigations, or field issue resolution.
Familiarity with system calibration, qualification, and performance verification processes.
Experience using statistical analysis and continuous improvement methodologies to drive manufacturing performance.
Understanding of manufacturing operations, cycle-time reduction, and yield improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Support the integration, calibration, qualification, and final verification of semiconductor inspection systems.
Perform system bring-up, alignment, testing, and troubleshooting activities to meet manufacturing and product performance requirements.
Investigate hardware, software, calibration, and system-level issues using structured root cause analysis methodologies.
Partner with engineering teams to develop, implement, and validate corrective actions.
Support manufacturing and field escalations through effective technical problem-solving.
Analyze system performance data, diagnostic information, and manufacturing metrics to identify trends and drive improvements.
Contribute to initiatives that improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce cycle time, and increase first-pass yield.
Support the transfer of new products from engineering development into manufacturing.
Evaluate manufacturability and provide feedback on product and process improvements.
Create and maintain manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and troubleshooting documentation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Systems Engineering, Software, Product Engineering, Service, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations.
Support training efforts and share technical knowledge with technicians and manufacturing personnel.
