•$69,550 - $125,725

About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Test Engineer (Level 2) to support the SkyLine-X KN-2 program. The position focuses on verification, validation, and qualification of advanced systems and testing methodologies for Air Traffic Control modernization initiatives. Under the guidance of senior engineers, the engineer will help design, implement, and maintain test frameworks and procedures that support operational readiness and align with systems assurance, safety, and performance standards. The team uses Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques to enhance testing; familiarity with these approaches is a plus. The engineer will work both independently and as part of a team, developing and executing system- and component-level tests, supporting integration and qualification activities, maintaining test documentation and traceability, and coordinating with software, systems engineering, and lab management teams. The role also participates in Agile team activities and may require travel.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically requires 2–4 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of test automation, including automated test frameworks and scripts for repeatable testing.
  • Experience in testing, test script development, and system-level verification of complex systems.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with Linux or Unix-based environments, containerization such as Docker or Podman, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interpret and author well-formed documents.

Nice To Haves

  • General familiarity with integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support regression coverage.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted testing approaches and Claude Code.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-based tools and techniques to enhance testing.
  • Familiarity with requirement decomposition to develop test approaches and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian Tool Suite and JIRA.
  • Familiarity with NextGen Air Traffic Control modernization programs.
  • Exposure to test and evaluation standards, including Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRM) and Test Readiness Review (TRR) documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of test frameworks for verification and validation of complex systems.
  • Develop system-level and component-level test procedures, test cases, and data sets from formal requirements and system specifications, with guidance as needed.
  • Write and execute test cases, scenarios, and scripts using tools and frameworks such as Squish, Selenium, PyTest, or Robot Framework.
  • Troubleshoot and debug tests, identify root causes of failures, and support defect resolution with software and systems engineering teams.
  • Execute integration testing of distributed systems using containerized or virtualized environments, such as Docker and Podman, and help manage virtual machines and development containers.
  • Apply AI/ML-based tools and techniques to enhance testing, coverage, and efficiency where applicable.
  • Maintain test artifacts and documentation, including the Verification Requirements Test Matrix (VRTM) and traceability matrices.
  • Interface with SkyLine-X KN-2 software and system engineering teams and lab management to support installation and integration efforts.
  • Support test readiness reviews, system qualification events, and formal testing with the customer.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Release Planning, and other Agile team activities.
  • Support travel.
