General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc•Fort Wayne, IN
•$107,278 - $114,000•Onsite

About The Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a Systems Integration and Test Engineer to support the integration and testing of multi-subsystem System-of-Systems capabilities. The role supports the full integration and test lifecycle, including planning, integration, execution, anomaly resolution, and reporting. It involves integrating dissimilar subsystems such as autonomy, RF communications, unmanned ground vehicles, small unmanned aircraft systems, electronic warfare, munitions, and fuzing, and resolving interface, timing, and interoperability issues. The engineer will support use-case-driven verification and validation campaigns, develop test scenarios with requirements traceability, author test plans and procedures, instrument and execute bench and field tests, automate testing and data acquisition, and analyze results using Python. The position also supports configuration control, audit-ready engineering documentation, test readiness reviews, and reporting to program leadership and government customers in an Agile, cross-functional, multi-vendor environment. This is a fully onsite position with the Ft. Wayne, Indiana team. Travel of up to 25% to customer and contractor test ranges is expected, typically for one to two weeks at a time and on an event-driven basis. The stated salary range is USD $107,278 to $114,000 per year. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and hold an active DoD Secret clearance; the basic clearance section also describes a Secret clearance as obtainable within a reasonable time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related science, engineering, or mathematics field and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated integration and test experience on complex hardware/software systems, including test plan authorship, execution, anomaly resolution, and formal reporting.
  • Hands-on System-of-Systems integration experience resolving interface, timing, and interoperability issues across dissimilar subsystems.
  • Multidisciplinary integration experience spanning autonomy, RF communications, UGVs, small UAS, electronic warfare, munitions, and fuzes.
  • Experience with bench and field instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and data acquisition systems.
  • Python scripting for test automation and data reduction.
  • Experience with use-case-driven or mission-thread-based verification and validation campaigns with formal requirements traceability.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment with Jira and Confluence.
  • Ability to support clear, audit-ready technical documentation for engineering and government customer audiences.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship are required in the required qualifications; the basic clearance section says a Secret clearance must be obtainable within a reasonable time.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to customer and contractor test ranges, typically for one to two weeks at a time on an event-driven basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Defense or aerospace experience with military standards, including MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1316, MIL-STD-882E, and MIL-STD-2105.
  • RF and communications test experience involving waveforms, link testing, tactical or mesh networks, and GPS-denied or contested-spectrum operations.
  • Electronic warfare test experience, including signal collection, jamming or countermeasure characterization, and range testing.
  • Autonomy, UGV, and small UAS integration and test experience involving perception, navigation, command and control, and human-machine teaming.
  • Munitions and fuzing experience, including setback survivability, safe-and-arm, warhead/effects characterization, and lethality testing.
  • Environmental and qualification test experience, including vibration, shock, thermal, and EMI/EMC testing.
  • Test automation framework experience with LabVIEW, TestStand, or equivalent.
  • Linux test environments and CI/CD for embedded software testing.
  • MBSE and digital-engineering traceability tools; experience with VCRMs or VVPs for DoD milestone reviews.
  • Use of Artificial Intelligence tools to develop integration and test artifacts and capabilities.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the full integration and test lifecycle: plan, integrate, execute, resolve anomalies, and report on multi-subsystem System-of-Systems capabilities.
  • Support integration and test strategy and integrate dissimilar subsystems into a cohesive, demonstrable capability; resolve cross-subsystem interface, timing, and interoperability issues.
  • Support operational use cases and mission threads, and develop end-to-end verification scenarios with formal requirements-to-test-evidence traceability.
  • Support authoring test plans and procedures for integration, functional, scenario, environmental, acceptance, regression, and qualification testing, with defined pass/fail criteria.
  • Plan and instrument bench and field tests, lead range execution, and resolve anomalies to the component level across electronic, mechanical, RF, and software assemblies.
  • Define and establish test automation and data acquisition; script data reduction and post-test analysis in Python, and develop automated test sequences where applicable.
  • Support authoring and maintenance of integration guides, interface control documents, test procedures, lessons-learned registers, and as-tested configuration baselines; keep documentation audit-ready for government milestone reviews.
  • Support test activities across a cross-functional, multi-vendor team using an Agile workflow.
  • Support test readiness reviews, test reports, and validation evidence for program leadership and government customers.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive benefits.
  • Flexible work environment.
