About The Position

COLSA Corporation is seeking a Senior Systems Integration Engineer to support the Air Force on its Mobility contract in Warner Robins, Georgia. The role provides systems engineering and integration support across weapon-system design, development, manufacturing, testing, deployment, and sustainment. It includes applying airworthiness and system-safety processes, supporting system integrity programs, assessing technical risks and proposals, and helping government and aircraft program offices address system installation, maintenance, and integration needs. The engineer also contributes to technical planning, requirements and architecture development, engineering analyses, acquisition and program documentation, deficiency resolution, and project meetings and reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Perform systems engineering involving systems design and integration, manufacturing, quality and industrial engineering, airworthiness, and configuration and data management.
  • Assist in developing, deploying, and maintaining processes that support weapon-system integration, manufacture, sustainment, configuration management, and operational safety, suitability, and effectiveness across the life cycle.
  • Apply AFPD 62-6 and standardized USAF airworthiness processes, including issuance of flight authorizations, and apply MIL-HDBK-516C airworthiness certification criteria to aircraft systems and subsystems.
  • Support System Integrity Programs, including MECSIP; help maintain and update the Critical Safety Item list; and monitor airworthiness certification for mission partner aircraft.
  • Apply OSS&E and airworthiness processes and assist with risk assessments, safety analyses, recommendations, and high-priority safety issues.
  • Translate user needs into weapon-system requirements for design, development, fabrication, testing, evaluation, fielding, and deployment.
  • Support system definition, development, integration, verification, sustainment, risk modeling and simulation, testing and evaluation, HSI, crew-station engineering, interoperability, OSS&E, and airworthiness certification across hardware and software systems, including ground-based systems.
  • Review program databases and BIT failure reports, and compare reports with the BIT interpreter analyzer to assess indication accuracy.
  • Provide system-integration guidance to aircraft program offices and the government for system installation and maintenance.
  • Review and analyze technical and OEM proposals or modifications for design feasibility, system capability, and compatibility.
  • Assist with effectiveness, cost, life-cycle cost, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, technical and schedule risk assessments, and schedule trade-off studies.
  • Conduct or assist with systems analyses, including system-design feasibility and state-of-the-art assessments.
  • Provide technical expertise and apply systems engineering processes to support technology and systems development.
  • Assist with technology maturation and technical risk reduction; evaluate and manage requirements, functional and physical architectures, and interfaces; and address technical issues arising from integration.
  • Assist in developing a System Engineering Plan (SEP) and in developing and reviewing the overall system design baseline, including architecture and interoperability requirements.
  • Use procedures, methods, and tools to measure technical progress and assess the effectiveness of plans and solutions.
  • Assist with developmental planning, including evaluation of military missions and related requirements documentation.
  • Assist with core system-design engineering tasks and provide rapid-response engineering support through problem identification, impact assessment, and corrective-action development for critical supportability problems.
  • Support the system-safety engineering program, including mishap risk assessments; review contractor safety proposals and analyses; evaluate safety concerns from using and support commands; and help resolve high-priority safety issues.
  • Assist with material solution analyses leading up to design reviews.
  • Prepare or support draft documentation and presentation materials as requested and within program cost, schedule, and performance limits.
  • Produce or review technical evaluations and plans, engineering studies and analyses, and acquisition and program documents, including requirements, CONOPS, specifications, RFPs, SEP, TEMP, test procedures, safety and environmental evaluations, information and cybersecurity strategies, technology and manufacturing readiness assessments, and other required program documents.
