This is a temporary role not to exceed 12 weeks for a Summer 2026 intern in NASA JSC's Project Management and Systems Engineering (EX) Division. This division provides project management and systems engineering for many NASA projects including Artemis Human Landing System, Artemis VIPER science rover, Mars and Lunar mission studies, Mars habitat analog missions, Commercial Crew Program, and the International Space Station. Depending on the assigned project, the intern will perform systems engineering tasks such as supporting Lunar surface campaign modeling and analysis, integration and analysis for lunar architecture studies, developing early life cycle systems engineering products (concept of operations, feasibility analysis, identifying constraints and assumptions), conducting engineering analysis for mission concepts (spacecraft trajectories, consumables, constraints), participating in the development of concept mission design and/or analysis for future human spaceflight missions (Artemis lunar landings, Human Mars Missions), participating in the development of a Mars analog habitat, assisting in the development of engineering analysis tools for mission design concepts, performing and reviewing system level architecture trade studies and analyses, developing procedures for building and testing a lunar rover, developing plans and technology for dust contamination mitigation for lunar surface exploration, identifying risks and developing risk statements and responses, developing system requirements, working in a team environment reporting to a project lead or manager, preparing reports, interacting with other NASA and JETS teams and departments, and performing job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.
