Systems Engineer - EEC Si
About The Position
The Elgin Experience Center for Solutions Integration (EEC Si) is where customer needs and technological solutions come together through the Systems Staging process. The EEC Si Engineering Team works with field teams to develop the fine design details of a Radio Communications System and to support the fundamental objective of Total Customer Satisfaction. In this role, you will be an active member of a team of developmental engineers, systems engineers, system technicians, and field personnel to understand, design, and test complex communications and information systems to meet customer requirements and schedule deadlines. You will utilize the EEC Si workflow processes and procedures to program and integrate equipment for a fully functional system. You will be a driving force behind the implementation, optimization, troubleshooting, testing, and auditing of systems throughout the staging process. You will provide detailed system design drawings/documentation and serve as the focal point for resolving product and system problems, providing hands-on support for system testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics. You will also develop new methods to improve performance, ease of installation, diagnostics, quality, and cycle time of complex systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Technology
Nice To Haves
- IT Systems Engineering experience.
- Aggressive problem-solving skills and the ability to get things done in a multi-organizational environment.
- Strong LAN/WAN, TCP/IP networking skills.
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows environments (including Active Directory).
- Virtualization (Vmware/KVM) high-level working and design knowledge
- Knowledge of two-way radio systems, wireless data systems.
- Dimetra/Astro/Mototrbo Motorola Communication systems experience.
- LTE, P25, Tetra knowledge is helpful
- Effective communications, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Drive to automate things.
- Basic Unix/shell/Python scripting skills are a plus
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
Responsibilities
