Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr Principal System Engineer (T03/T04 levels). This position is located in Roy, Utah and supports the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Proficiency with Cost estimating tools (ACEIT, SEER, ReliaSoft, or similar) - 3 years of experience
  • Proficiency with Cost As an Independent Variable (CAIV) or Requirement vs Cost (RvC) modeling - 1 year of experience
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in the areas of cost specific modeling or modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) - 3 years of experience
  • Experience utilizing base year dollars and understanding of inflation / Net Present Value (NPV) - 1 year
  • Knowledge of Agile development practices
  • Principal Systems Engineer (T-03 level): Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with a minimum 5 years of related experience; 3 years with a Master’s; or 1 years with a PhD
  • Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (T-04 level): Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with a minimum 8 years of related experience; 6 years with a Master’s; or 4 years with a PhD

Nice To Haves

  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • Proficiency with data handling scripting (SQL, Azure, PowerBI or similar) - 1 year of experience
  • Proficiency with engineering scripting (Python, C++/C#, Matlab, VBA or similar) - 1 year of experience
  • Experience with cost estimating ACAT 1 programs
  • Expertise with Systems Engineering (SE) (Systems engineering V, systems integration, VV&A, or similar)
  • Experience defining confidence bounds and quantifying sources of error in models
  • Experience with Agile Release Train (ART) or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira / Confluence)
  • Advanced use of standard Microsoft Office products to include development tools
  • Strong interest to interact with a wide variety of skills across multiple engineering domains. These engineering domains include: Systems Safety, Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Integrated Logistics Support, Product Support, Digital Integration, and Sustainment Cost Modeling
  • Experience with pathfinding / blank page development efforts
  • INCOSE certifications
  • Knowledge of DoD CAPE guide, Title 10 U.S.C. Chapter 323, or DoDI 5000.73
  • Capable of working with minimal direction, independently determines and develops technical objectives of assignments, and presents work upon completion for high level review

Responsibilities

  • Join a team modeling high level Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Cost (RAM-C) processes across multiple campuses.
  • Focus on Operating and Support (O&S) modeling to support affordable system design over its lifespan.
  • Support Requirement vs Cost (RvC) and Cost as an Independent Variable (CAIV) analysis for design reviews and major program events.
  • May include other product support related modeling efforts to include Availability, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Life Cycle Cost (LCC).
