About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to support the Sentinel Program. This role will be based in Roy, UT. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure. The selected engineer will be responsible for technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for Support Equipment. They will collaborate with Design, Integrated Logistics Support, Specialty Engineering, and project management in the development of Support Equipment for mission operational systems on the Sentinel program. The role involves analysis and application of Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) for Support Equipment Architecture development, performing analyses across all product lifecycle stages, and ensuring the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions within technical, schedule, and cost constraints. This includes functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition using DOORS, and developing Architectural framework products using CAMEO MBSE toolsets. The engineer will ensure support equipment requirements, architecture, and designs integrate with the technical needs of the Sentinel program. This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Systems Engineer level (level 3) or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer level (level 4).

Requirements

  • Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in STEM and 5 years of experience, 3 years of experience with master’s degree, 0 years of experience with PhD.
  • Sr. Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in STEM and 8 years of experience, 6 years of experience with master’s degree, 4 years of experience with PhD.
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Ability to obtain TOP SECRET clearance and Special Access within a reasonable period as determined by the business needs of the company.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Systems architecture development (for Principal)
  • 2-4 years of experience in Systems architecture development (for Sr. Principal)
  • 1-2 years of experience in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Tools (Cameo, Magic Draw, Rhapsody or similar) (for Principal)
  • 2-4 years of experience in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Tools (Cameo, Magic Draw, Rhapsody or similar) (for Sr. Principal)
  • 1-2 years of experience with Requirements management tools (DOORS, for example) (for Principal)
  • 2-4 years of experience with Requirements management tools (DOORS, for example) (for Sr. Principal)

Nice To Haves

  • Solid understanding/Experience in System Engineering (SE) process, including SE experience across multiple levels of integration
  • Experience with the following tools: CAMEO, DOORS, Confluence, and JIRA
  • Experience developing/maintaining Peculiar (PSE) and Common (CSE) Support Equipment

Responsibilities

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for Support Equipment
  • Work with Design, Integrated Logistics Support, Specialty Engineering, and project management in development of Support Equipment for mission operational system on the Sentinel program to apply concepts and practices to Support Equipment.
  • Analysis and perform Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) for Support Equipment Architecture development.
  • Perform analyses at all levels of product lifecycle to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements as applicable to support equipment and total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into support equipment specifications using DOORS.
  • Develops Architectural framework products using CAMEO MBSE product toolsets.
  • Ensure support equipment requirements, architecture, and designs integrate with technical needs of the Sentinel program.
