Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer / Senior Principal Systems Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. The selected candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills and will have a good track record as a self-motivated driven contributor who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. They will have an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across multiple functional areas as required to accomplish programmatic and team objectives. The candidate will develop and maintain design review procedures, tools for tracking progress and action items against major milestones, incorporate lessons learned, and facilitate design reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university
  • Principal Systems Engineer: 5 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience with Master's degree, 1 year with a PhD.
  • Sr. Principal Systems Engineer: 8 Years of related experience; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
  • 1+ years of experience developing or reviewing requirements within DOORS or similar tool
  • 1+ years’ experience in ICBM (MMIII or Sentinel) OR complex aerospace/defense systems

Nice To Haves

  • Background/experience with of the defense acquisition process/phases
  • Experience developing and executing formal entry/exit criteria for program events
  • Experience developing and executing formal Standard operating procedures (SOP) for program events
  • Large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production.
  • Experience with implementing and using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools, practices, and methods.
  • Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.) for the development of complex systems of systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
