About The Position

Glydways is hiring a Senior or Staff Systems Engineer for its Glydways Automated Transit Network (GATN). The role owns how new features and system changes are integrated and demonstrated on the guideway. The engineer designs features, creates requirements, assesses safety-function health using logs, metrics, and on-track behavior, defines data-driven integration test plans, and drives issues to resolution so the system can operate safely and meet availability targets. The role combines hands-on work at test tracks and project sites with log and dashboard analysis. The engineer translates system needs into testable scenarios, parameters, and decisions while collaborating across autonomy, vehicle hardware, safety, infrastructure, operations, product, and systems engineering. Glydways prefers this position to be onsite four days a week in Atlanta, Georgia. Senior or Staff leveling will be determined during interviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 4–10+ years of experience in a relevant industry.
  • At least 1 year of experience in systems integration and test, system test, or verification and validation for complex hardware/software systems.
  • Ability to collaborate across autonomy, embedded, systems, operations, and product teams and drive alignment without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience planning and executing integration or systems-level test campaigns, including scenario design, success criteria, and analysis.
  • Strong root-cause analysis skills across software and hardware interfaces.
  • Comfort working hands-on at a test track.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering.
  • Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, transit systems, or complex integrated hardware/software products.
  • Familiarity with system test environments such as HIL, SIL, and simulation frameworks.
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as Jama, SysML, or DOORS.
  • Proven track record of delivering safety-critical products to market.
  • Exposure to safety and reliability topics such as safety functions, operational envelopes, availability metrics, and RAMS, and how they apply to system integration work.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, planning, and on-track integration of new GATN capabilities, including reduced headways, fail-operational behaviors, availability targets, ticket kiosk flows, dispatch behaviors, and new ATP functions.
  • Design and execute Tier 2+ integration scenarios across vehicles, wayside, dispatch, and OCC to test safety functions, throughput behaviors, and operational workflows.
  • Improve regression test suites and mileage-accumulation campaigns that gate releases, including test selection, ordering, and coverage criteria.
  • Review logs, metrics, and track behavior to assess safety-function health and recommend parameter or design changes where needed.
  • Partner with Systems Engineering, Autonomy, Vehicle SI, and Operations to define entry and exit criteria for on-track testing, release candidates, and feature go-live decisions.
  • Support integration across project sites, including parity targets, mobile test sites, and project-specific constraints.
  • Write system-level requirements, CONOPs, and analysis outputs, and ensure they are implemented, testable, and validated on the GATN.
  • Lead technical triage when integration or regression tests fail; coordinate logs, reproduce issues, work with domain owners, and drive documented resolutions.
  • Identify and help address gaps in test infrastructure, logging, metrics, and configuration management.
  • Communicate feature readiness, risks, and blockers, and document decisions and operational guardrails.
