Senior Online Mapping Algorithms Engineer- - Autonomous Vehicles

NVIDIA•Santa Clara, CA
•$184,000 - $356,500

About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking a senior algorithm engineer or architect to develop online mapping for autonomous vehicles. The role helps shape autonomous-driving solutions that perceive the surrounding world and build a 3D model of the driving environment. The engineer will generate real-time world models from sensor and external inputs, enable HD mapless driving in complex urban scenarios through enriched bird’s-eye-view (BEV) models, and develop and integrate algorithms into NVIDIA’s autonomous-vehicle systems. The position involves writing safe embedded software for real-time systems, producing efficient C++ product code and using CUDA for parallelism, and following automotive quality and safety standards. The work supports NVIDIA’s goal of building self-driving vehicles and involves collaboration across teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience.
  • Software industry experience.
  • Strong C++ development skills.
  • Passion for robotics and autonomous vehicles.
  • Drive to learn new things and tackle meaningful problems.
  • Outstanding communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
  • Independent and analytical software engineering skills.
  • Software development experience on embedded or automotive platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in 3D geometry, computer vision, or state estimation algorithms such as Kalman filters or particle filters.
  • Understanding of ADASISv2, crowdsourced maps, and geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Experience optimizing runtime code using profilers.
  • Experience with CUDA parallel programming.

Responsibilities

  • Generate real-time 3D world models for planning using inputs from sensors and external sources.
  • Enable HD mapless driving in complex urban scenarios by creating enriched BEV models of the world.
  • Design and integrate algorithmic solutions into the core of NVIDIA autonomous vehicles.
  • Write safe embedded software code for real-time systems.
  • Develop highly efficient product code in C++ and use algorithmic parallelism offered by GPGPU programming with CUDA.
  • Produce code and designs that follow automotive quality and safety standards.
