About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense has an opening for a Systems Engineer (level 2)/Principal Systems Engineer (level 3) to join its Payload Re-entry System (PRS) team in Huntsville, AL in support of the Sentinel Program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 2 years of experience, 0 years of experience with master’s degree (for Level 2).
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5 years of related experience, 3 years of related experience with master’s degree, or 1 year of related experience with PhD (for Level 3).
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher at the time of application.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
  • 1 year of experience with Core Systems Engineering (Requirements, Architecture, Interfaces, or Verification) (for Level 2).
  • 3 years of experience with Core Systems Engineering (Requirements, Architecture, Interfaces, or Verification) (for Level 3).
  • 1 year of experience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORS, Cameo, MagicDraw, UML, SysML (for Level 2).
  • 3 years of experience with MBSE tools (for Level 3).
  • 1 year of experience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORS, Cameo, MagicDraw, UML, SysML (for Level 3).
  • 1 year of experience interfacing with suppliers or government customers (for Level 3).
  • 1 year of experience in requirement verification planning (for Level 3).
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred degrees include (Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace engineering).
  • 3 years of experience with ICBM Weapon Systems
  • 3 years of experience in Systems Engineering and any of the following areas: Requirements Management: MBSE, Functional Block Diagrams, Specification Trees; Systems and end item requirements validation and verification; Design: Systems Design, Systems Architecture, Systems Integration, N2 Analysis, Trade Studies
  • General knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines: Safety, Nuclear Hardness, Nuclear Surety, Material Science, Environmental, Parts and Logistics, etc
  • Experience with CDRL development for customer review.
  • Experience executing System Milestone efforts such as: ARR, PDR, CDR, etc.
  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance
  • Active SAP clearance

Responsibilities

  • Perform requirements analysis, develop source data for requirements, generate requirements verification, and help prepare test plans and procedures.
  • Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for mechanical, electrical and integrated systems.
  • Apply the principles of engineering to design components and systems using applicable standards and specifications
  • Verify specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, test data processing, and performance analysis.
  • Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Develop Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for the systems engineering function.
  • Interface with United States Air Force Customer.
