About The Position

The group's primary focus is the implementation of mission-critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications clients. The Motorola Solutions team consists of Sales, Project Management, Systems Engineering, and System Technologist personnel working collaboratively in a high-performance culture, often facing demanding timelines and high customer expectations during the deployment of mission-critical communication systems. Many of these systems are designed around the APCO Project 25 standard, frequently integrating with other critical customer sub-systems. With the growth of data services, some customer mobile wireless networks are being enhanced with LTE infrastructure connectivity, utilizing compelling applications and live mobile video to supplement our traditional voice and narrow-band data networks.

Requirements

  • Willingness to travel extensively as needed (50-60%)
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, IT or Networking OR 3-5 years of Engineering or Wireless Communications experience
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Ability to obtain RMCP and OPP security clearances

Nice To Haves

  • Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE
  • Experience working with Project 25 products (trunked and conventional)
  • Experience with, a good understanding of, and working knowledge of IP networking, network design methodologies, and troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS)
  • Experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of: Workstation Operating Systems (Windows 10 and 11), Switches (Aruba and Juniper), Firewalls (Fortinet and Juniper), Routers (MNR and Juniper)
  • Experience with logging recording systems
  • Fluent in both English and French
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or have the proper academic and work experience required to get the accreditation
  • Strong communication, self-management, and people skills
  • Self-motivated to perform required duties at a distance from direct supervision
  • Ability to operate under stressful situations
  • Ability to present complex technical topics to non-technical audiences
  • Reside in the BC, AB, or QC area with close proximity to a major airport

Responsibilities

  • Lead customer presentations
  • System staging
  • Complete system documentation
  • Live system upgrades
  • Ensuring the integrity of the architecture/design
  • Carrying out field engineering duties during a radio system upgrade cycle
  • Upgrading/deploying various devices including network gear, Windows-based devices, virtual machines, and Motorola proprietary devices
  • Acting as a customer-facing technical resource throughout the upgrade process
  • Traveling to customer locations in various Canadian provinces to perform duties
