The Motorola Solutions team comprises Sales, Project Management, Systems Engineering and System Technologist personnel working together in a high performance culture, often with demanding cycle times and high customer expectations as we work to deploy mission critical communication systems. Many of these systems are designed around the APCO Project 25 communications standard, often with interfaces to other critical customers' sub-systems. With the growth of data services some of our customers’ mobile wireless networks are being enhanced with connectivity to an LTE infrastructure, leveraging compelling applications and live mobile video, supplementing our traditional core voice and narrow-band data networks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, IT or Networking OR 5+ years of Engineering or Wireless Communications experience
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident with the ability to obtain RMCP and OPP security clearances

Nice To Haves

  • Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE
  • Experience working with Project 25 products (trunked and conventional)
  • Experience with logging recording systems
  • Desired to be fluent in both English and French
  • Desired to be a licensed Professional Engineer or have the proper academic and work experience required to get the accreditation
  • Strongly desired to live in the BC, AB, or QC area with close proximity to a major airport
  • Strong communication, self-management, and people skills
  • Self-motivated to perform required duties at a distance from direct supervision
  • Ability to operate under stressful situations
  • Ability to present complex technical topics to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to lead field teams and act as the primary technical point of contact for both internal and external team members
  • Experience with IP networking, network design methodologies, and troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS)
  • Experience with core components of Windows domain administration including but not limited to: Active Directory Domain Services, Domain Controllers, DNS Management, Group Police Management
  • Experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of: Workstation Operating Systems, specifically Windows 10 and 11, Switches, specifically Aruba and Juniper, Firewalls, specifically Fortinet and Juniper, Routers, specifically Juniper

Responsibilities

  • Lead customer presentations
  • System staging
  • Complete system documentation
  • Live system upgrades
  • Ensuring the integrity of the architecture/design
  • Carrying out field engineering duties during a radio system upgrade cycle
  • Upgrading/deploying various devices which include network gear, Windows-based devices, virtual machines and Motorola proprietary devices
  • Acting as a customer facing technical resource through the upgrade effort
  • Traveling to customer locations in the various provinces of Canada to carry out duties
