About The Position

The A220 commercial aircraft Program is looking for an Electrical Systems Professional to join our Center of Competencies team based in Mirabel (Québec, Canada). This role involves working with a multifunctional team including Chief Engineering, Programs, Methods, Production, Customer Service, and Quality. The Electrical Systems Center of Competencies is responsible for advanced systems design and technical expertise, design assurance, problem-solving, continuous improvement, supplier management, technical integration, and cross-functional collaboration. The team organization promotes autonomous cross-collaboration, mutual support, and collective learning. The Electrical Systems Professional will lead and manage engineering projects using in-depth technical expertise in aircraft electrical and lighting systems, along with proven Project and Program Management skills, to ensure adherence to deadlines, budget, and quality in a complex, multidisciplinary environment.

Requirements

  • Hold a university degree in electrical or aerospace engineering or the equivalent.
  • At least seven (7) years of relevant experience in the design, development, integration, testing and certification of aircraft systems.
  • Expertise in project management, supplier management and the ability to lead complex projects.
  • Expertise in system engineering, product development, V&V, AC & DC aircraft architectures and lighting systems.
  • Experience in complex Continuing Airworthiness Risk Assessment.
  • Experience with the DO-160 qualification process and knowledge of the DO-178 process.
  • Experience with the FAR 25/525 certification process and with the ARP4754 standard.
  • Experience with civil aviation and airworthiness authorities.
  • Proficient in the use of Google Suite software tools to produce presentations and reports.
  • Ability to work well in a multi-functional team environment.
  • Proven leadership ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and drive consensus on architectural and technical decisions.
  • Demonstrate a proactive and accountable approach, taking full ownership of projects and deliverables.
  • Engaged in digitalization and data analytics.
  • Strong communication skills (written and spoken) in French and English.

  • Knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance during the integration, development, qualification, and certification of electrical and lighting systems for A220 family aircraft.
  • Contribute to defining the architectural framework for electrical and lighting systems, ensuring long-term technical consistency, design integrity, and alignment with program objectives.
  • Harmonize the design across various competing development projects, ensuring that architectural choices meet technical, operational, and certification requirements.
  • Lead design reviews as a technical expert with strategic systems suppliers and certification authorities to ensure design objectives are met.
  • Manage, review, and technically approve key deliverables from systems suppliers, ensuring their compliance with technical specifications and program standards.
  • Maintain technical communication with engineering departments and related program functions, facilitating the optimal sharing of data essential to design progress.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments (Production, Customer Support, Purchasing) to ensure the viability and profitability of technical solutions, while deploying fixes on the final assembly line (FAL).
  • Define and implement high-impact technical solutions to resolve development issues, both in-service and on the final assembly line.
  • Conduct safety investigations and lead airworthiness maintenance projects.
