About The Position

Ground Missile Defense (GMD) is a critical component of the Missile Defense System, safeguarding the nation against ballistic missile attacks. The GMD Weapon System (GWS) is responsible for processing sensor data to identify and characterize ballistic missile threats, planning defensive solutions, and launching intercepting missiles. The selected Engineer will contribute to the GWS program as an individual on the SPA team, focusing on developing data analysis products that support the design and development of GWS capabilities for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM and 6 years of related experience, or 5 years of experience with a PhD in STEM
  • Recent and extensive MATLAB and Python Experience/ proficiency
  • Proven experience in developing, prototyping and evaluating complex algorithms
  • Extensive background in mathematics or science
  • Must be able to support an in-person/closed-area work environment
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

  • Experience with the MDA GMD program
  • Advanced degree in Mathematics or Physics
  • Unix/Linux Operating System Experience
  • Experience with planning/scheduling algorithms
  • Experience with sensor modeling, communication modeling, and/or missile modelling
  • Battle Management or Fire Control experience
  • Experienced with Linux, scripting, and operations
  • Strong technical presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and absorb new concepts
