About The Position

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Systems Engineer SME to support our Huntsville, AL location. This role involves supervising, coordinating, and performing design, development, and implementation of additions and changes to network hardware, infrastructure server environments, and operating systems. The position requires direct support in the day-to-day operations of network hardware and operating systems, including evaluating system utilization, monitoring response times, and providing primary support for detecting and correcting operational problems. The Systems Engineer SME will troubleshoot at the physical and logical levels of the network, working with measurement hardware and software, communication protocols, and physical hardware devices. Responsibilities include participating in the planning, design, technical review, and implementation of new network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems for voice and data communication networks. The role also encompasses performing systems management and integration functions, exhibiting proficiency with virtualization technologies and network administration, and maintaining network infrastructure standards, including TCP/IP. Additionally, the position requires providing technical consultation, training, and support to IT staff as designated by the government, diagnosing and resolving complex communication problems, and being responsible for the design, deployment, evaluation, testing, certification, patching, and addressing interoperability issues of storage and backup systems, including all features, components, and application dependencies. The Systems Engineer SME ensures systems are current with approved patches, assists with certification and system accreditation tasks, composes SOPs and Quick Reference guides, and provides top-level technical expertise for the design and development of a client/server environment. This includes developing client/server system strategies, designing the necessary infrastructure, advising on technological purchases related to processing, data storage, data access, and application development, and setting standards for the organization's client/server relational database structure. The role also involves advising management on the feasibility of potential future projects.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience Microsoft Windows, Active Directory
  • Understanding of NIST 800 series publications and Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) compliance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required to perform this work.
  • Candidates are required to have an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate and/or design, develop and perform additions and changes to network hardware, infrastructure server environments, and operating systems, and attached devices, including investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software.
  • Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations on network hardware and operating systems including the evaluation of system utilization, monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems.
  • Troubleshoot at the physical level of the network, working with network measurement hardware and software, as well as physical checking and testing of hardware devices at the logical level working with communication protocols.
  • Participate in planning design, technical review and implementation for new network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems for voice and data communication networks.
  • Perform systems management and integration functions.
  • Maintain network infrastructure standards including network communication protocols such as TCP/IP.
  • Provide technical consultation, training and support to IT staff as designated by the government.

  • Sets standards for the client/server relational database structure for the organization.
  • Advises of feasibility of potential future projects to management.
