About The Position

Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Systems Engineer – Mission Analyst – Level 2 or 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be on the Schriever Space Force Base, in Colorado Springs, CO. The Systems Engineer - Mission Analyst – Level 2 or 3 will support the Overhead Persistent InfraRed (OPIR) Organization. The selected candidate will guide and advise Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS) and Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) OPIR Architecture (BOA) analysis efforts in support of MDA Flight Tests and Integrated/Distributed Ground Tests. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/teams comprised of all experience levels. This requisition may be filled at either a Systems Engineer – Level 2 or a Principal Systems Engineer – Level 3.

Requirements

  • Systems Engineer - Level 2: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree and 0-2 years of related work experience.
  • Principal Systems Engineer - Level 3: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related work experience, or 1 year of related work experience with a PhD. in STEM.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start.
  • Data Analysis and Scripting experience.
  • Detailed working knowledge of OPIR systems and Mission performance/execution.
  • Basic knowledge of LINUX commands.
  • Ability to maintain and follow documented processes and procedures.
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Ability to maintain documentation through the development lifecycle.
  • Ability to work in a team-centric, multi-tasking environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Scripting experience with MATLAB, Python and Perl.
  • Hands-on experience analyzing OPIR post-test data.
  • Detailed working knowledge of BOA performance/execution.
  • Detailed working knowledge of SBIRS performance/execution.

Responsibilities

  • Technical analysis, system integration, verification and validation, and “supportability and effectiveness” analyses for total OPIR systems.
  • Analyses are performed at all levels to include concept, design, recorded background scenario generation, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and post-test results.
  • Performing system integration/update troubleshooting, and Verification & Validation of Threat Modeling Implementation within OPIR Models & Simulations.
  • Special focus on process automation through script development to support the Ground Test Integrated Simulation System (GTISS) architecture, design, and implementation within the OPIR framework.
  • Will define the next generation of Ground Testing and working with the latest technology to enable mission success.
