About The Position

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc., (AMA) is currently accepting applications for a motivated intern to support work in our Hampton, VA, location. The qualified candidate will work towards the transformation and modernization of engineering practices within NASA and project support in systems engineering. Typical work activities may include support for a variety of engineering transformation activities, digital engineering, data science architectures, human/machine teaming prototype development augmented by AI, human-centered design, organizational psychology/change, literature reviews, documentation, and potentially workshops with a goal to prototype and pilot advancing engineering techniques and tools for implementation into NASA Langley's Engineering Design, Development, Test & Evaluation (DDT&E) lifecycle and sharing with the broader NASA Engineering community. The pay rate for this position will be $22.10-$33.50 commensurate with education. Applicants must be a current Virginia Higher Education student and/or a Virginia resident.

Requirements

  • Completion of at least 3 years of an undergraduate degree in a STEM field (Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field)
  • Programming experience in Python, Julia, or similar language
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Candidates must possess strong written and oral communication skills
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.

Responsibilities

  • Working on Advancing Engineering through digital engineering, data science architectures, AI augmented engineering, and other selected frameworks.
  • Develop and support the implementation of the Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP), Concept of Operations (ConOps), Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) Plan, NASA Procedural Requirements (NPR) 7123.1 Compliance Matrix, and Data Requirements Document (DRD)
  • Coordinate, plan, provide technical insight, develop documentation, and present at project milestone reviews on the engineering of the system
  • Provide technical and programmatic input as needed to the project management team for project planning, schedule input, and project risk assessments
  • Develop and manage project Technical Performance Measures (TPMs)
  • Develop reports, presentations, and other documentation, providing clear comments and guidance
  • Attend meetings, teleconferences, and workshops as needed
