About The Position

Our client, a world leader in biotechnology and life sciences, is looking for a "Systems Engineer – Electro-Mechanical” in Tucson, AZ. This is a long-term contract position with the possibility of extension. The role involves designing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical systems and devices. The engineer will also be responsible for developing test methods, test beds, and testing plans, conducting various types of testing including sensor testing and system performance evaluation, and analyzing test data using Python and other analytical tools. Participation in design reviews, reliability testing, and system integration is expected. The role also includes troubleshooting manufacturing and system issues, performing root-cause analysis, documenting defects, and preparing technical reports and engineering documentation. Support for the development of manufacturing processes and engineering solutions is also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, Biomedical, Software, or related Engineering.
  • 4+ years of engineering experience in systems, electro-mechanical devices, testing, or product development.
  • Strong hands-on testing and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with test method development, data analysis, and sensor outputs.
  • Python coding/data analysis experience.
  • Strong technical documentation and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an FDA- or FAA-regulated environment strongly preferred.
  • Medical device industry experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems and devices.
  • Develop test methods, test beds, testing plans, and hands-on testing protocols.
  • Conduct DOE, sensor testing, digital output analysis, and system performance evaluation.
  • Analyze test data using Python and other analytical tools.
  • Participate in design reviews, reliability testing, and system integration activities.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and system issues and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Document defects, track the defect lifecycle, and communicate findings to development partners.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and engineering documentation.
  • Support development of manufacturing processes and engineering solutions.
