About The Position

Join our dynamic team as a Systems Application Engineer II and be at the forefront of technical innovation. This position is responsible for providing high-quality engineering designs in accordance with project specifications, company standards, budgets, and schedules while participating on project teams to design, install, commission, and support building automation control systems. The Systems Application Engineer II serves as the lead design engineer on medium to large projects and is expected to execute engineering activities with increasing independence. This position is typically held by an individual with 3+ years of experience within the building automation, HVAC controls, or related controls industry and possesses intermediate knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation systems, electronic control systems, and Schneider Electric software applications. This employee typically works under the daily direction of and reports to an Engineering Manager or Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Typically requires 2-4 years of experience in the building automation, HVAC controls, security, or related controls industry.
  • Intermediate knowledge of HVAC systems, security systems, building automation systems, electronic control systems, and Schneider Electric software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop complete BAS/BMS design packages for medium to large projects.
  • Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Skilled in developing and reviewing control wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, Design360, Prometheus, BIM coordination tools, and related engineering software.
  • Experience working within BIM environments and coordinating engineering deliverables across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate technical requirements into practical solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface directly with customers, consultants, contractors, and project teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while balancing scope, quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret construction drawings, specifications, scope of work, and contract documents and develop complete Building Management System (BMS) and Building Automation System (BAS) designs.
  • Develop complete submittal packages utilizing Schneider Electric engineering tools and standards.
  • Serve as the lead design engineer on medium to large projects and complete engineering tasks throughout the full design cycle, ensuring submittals are ready for construction.
  • Deliver assigned engineering packages in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, budget targets, and schedule milestones.
  • Maintain adherence to corporate, regional, and branch engineering standards and best practices.
  • Participate with project teams through design, installation, commissioning, and service phases to support successful project execution.
  • Prepare as-built and record documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Attend customer, contractor, consultant, and coordination meetings independently.
  • Communicate meeting outcomes, action items, risks, and additional deliverables to the Project Manager and ensure timely resolution.
  • Attend sales-to-operations turnover meetings and effectively represent the engineering team without assistance from the Engineering Manager.
  • Support project and customer meetings when engineering expertise is required.
  • Coordinate activities with the Global Engineering Center and other remote engineering resources.
  • Interpret anomalies, discrepancies, and deficiencies in contract documents and proactively drive project resolution through Requests for Information (RFIs), customer communication, and coordination with other trades.
  • Review change orders and integrate approved changes into engineering design packages.
  • Identify opportunities to substitute specified devices with Schneider Electric preferred solutions and prepare substitution requests for Engineer of Record approval.
  • Expand application knowledge and develop alternate solutions that reduce cost, improve performance, and provide value engineering opportunities.
  • Convert site audits, surveys, and field walk-throughs into complete engineering submittal packages.
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables within BIM environments and participate in project BIM teams.
  • Apply industry best practices and ASHRAE standards where appropriate to optimize system performance and design quality.
