Reporting to the IT Applications Manager, the Systems Analyst ensures the secure, stable, and reliable operation of APEGA’s business applications. This role provides production support, release coordination, and technical partnership with internal teams and vendors to resolve incidents, deliver improvements, and enable staff and member-facing services.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience developing and supporting applications using modern front-end and back-end web technologies such as JavaScript, single page application frameworks, .NET, and SQL Server; experience with association management software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of system development life cycle, structured systems development concepts, as well as software development methodologies.
  • Knowledge and skills of modern deployment practices and tooling for release and deployment management.
  • Excellent customer service skills and habits are a must.
  • Able to organize and prioritize your work independently.
  • Ability to support end users at an intermediate level.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Stays up to date with current advancements in application development tools and best practices.
  • Strong abilities in T-SQL Querying and database performance troubleshooting.
  • Post-secondary degree in IST, computer science, software development, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience supporting and enhancing business-critical applications in a mid-sized or enterprise environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with association management software is an asset.
  • Certification in .NET, C#, SQL, ITIL 4, or other related certificates considered an asset.
  • Experience in software development using Microsoft and Atlassian tools will be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide production support and documentation for APEGA’s business applications, including Aptify, Sitefinity, SQL Server, and Formatta, to ensure they are stable, reliable, secure, and meeting organizational needs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for application-related questions and issues, and provide subject matter expertise on functionality, configuration, and support processes.
  • Triage, resolve, and document application support tickets; escalate appropriately and follow through to closure.
  • Coordinate with vendors, developers, testers, and business stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and deliver enhancements.
  • Monitor, track, and troubleshoot production issues; communicate outages, impacts, and restoration updates; and perform root cause analysis with corrective and preventative actions.
  • Participate in after-hours or on-call support as required for major incidents and planned releases or maintenance windows.
  • Create and configure system views, reports, and other user-facing outputs.
  • Perform application configuration and administration, including user setup and routine maintenance activities.
  • Configure, refresh, and support production and non-production environments.
  • Create, maintain, and improve automated build and deployment pipelines.
  • Support code management practices (versioning, branching, and release tagging) in collaboration with developers.
  • Plan, document, and implement application releases in alignment with change and release processes.
  • Perform installations, updates, and upgrades for supported applications.
  • Provide expertise on the current state of applications to inform requirements, design, and implementation decisions.
  • Research options and prototype solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Work with project teams to deliver solutions that meet business needs and operational standards.
  • Contribute to solution development and transition-to-support activities (documentation, handoff, and training as needed).
  • Design, develop, and enhance application components (code, configuration, scripts, and SQL) following SDLC practices, peer review, and appropriate testing.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for technical deliverables and operational procedures.
  • Review solution designs and changes to support high-quality, supportable, and secure implementations.
