About The Position

The College of Veterinary Medicine IT Services team is seeking a Systems Analyst II to support and enhance technology systems. The ideal candidate is an experienced systems analyst with hands‑on expertise in Windows and Apple environments, endpoint management, desktop support, and collaborative problem‑solving within a complex organization. Key Responsibilities: Manage Windows and Apple infrastructure, including servers, endpoints, and research systems, ensuring stability, performance, and timely updates. Administer Windows devices using MECM and Apple devices using JAMF Pro, maintaining consistency across deployed systems. Coordinate technology lifecycle planning, including equipment rotation, inventory management, and operating system upgrades. Support the student one‑to‑one computing program and provide desktop support across the college. Collaborate with faculty, staff, leadership, and central IT partners on projects, procurement, onboarding, and process improvements. Develop documentation, standard operating procedures, and contribute to strategic IT planning initiatives. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience administering and supporting Windows devices using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
  • Experience managing Apple devices and mobile technology using JAMF Pro or similar mobile device management (MDM) tools.
  • Experience supporting or working with enterprise or research-focused software and associated scientific or imaging technologies (e.g., laboratory, research, and medical systems).
  • Experience coordinating or leading IT projects, including communicating with stakeholders and tracking timelines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Physics, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, leadership, and central IT partners on projects, procurement, onboarding, and process improvements.
  • Develop documentation, standard operating procedures, and contribute to strategic IT planning initiatives.
  • Deploys, maintains, and troubleshoots systems infrastructure and services including email, storage, and identity and access management.
  • Manages and monitors all installed systems and infrastructure ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • Collects and writes technical requirements for new systems.
  • Analyzes and implements an emerging technology that affects Iowa State University campus-wide.
  • Modifies, maintains, and updates complex software.
  • Prepares and conducts system and programming tests which may require the interfacing of diverse hardware and software.
  • Reviews potential applications and designs hardware/software interfaces.
  • Implements best practices for scalability, supportability, ease of maintenance, and system performance.
  • Assignments are generally of a difficult technical nature and may involve project leadership activities.
