About The Position
Ampcus Inc. is a certified global provider of a broad range of Technology and Business consulting services. We are in search of a highly motivated candidate to join our talented Team. We are seeking an experienced Cloud Data Migration Engineer to lead and support Oracle-to-AWS data migration initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), cloud infrastructure, networking, ETL/ELT processes, and hybrid cloud environments. This role involves designing, implementing, and executing secure, scalable migration solutions while minimizing downtime and ensuring successful cutover.
Requirements
- 8+ years of IT experience supporting the design, development, deployment, or delivery of technology solutions.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience migrating Oracle databases to AWS using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
- Strong experience with: Full-load, CDC, batch, and real-time streaming data migrations.
- AWS networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, VPNs, and Direct Connect.
- AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and Lambda.
- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- ETL/ELT processes and cloud data integration.
- Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting and automation.
- AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail monitoring.
- Migration planning, cutover execution, rollback strategies, and minimizing production downtime.
- Hybrid cloud connectivity and legacy system modernization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience producing technical documentation and migration runbooks.
Nice To Haves
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Database – Specialty certification.
- Experience supporting public sector or state government projects.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement Oracle-to-AWS data migration solutions using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
- Support full-load, Change Data Capture (CDC), and real-time streaming data migration architectures.
- Design and configure AWS infrastructure, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, VPNs, and Direct Connect.
- Deploy and manage AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda, and related cloud-native services.
- Build and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or AWS CloudFormation).
- Develop and execute ETL/ELT processes to support cloud migration projects.
- Create automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Develop migration strategies, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and downtime mitigation approaches.
- Configure cloud monitoring and logging using AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and database teams to modernize legacy on-premises environments.
- Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, migration runbooks, and implementation guides.
- Troubleshoot migration issues and optimize migration performance.
