About The Position
Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking an experienced Systems Analyst 3 / Databricks Engineer to design, develop, and optimize scalable enterprise data solutions using the Databricks platform. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building high-performance ETL/ELT pipelines, implementing Lakehouse architectures, and delivering analytical solutions for business stakeholders.
Requirements
- 8+ years of IT experience supporting enterprise technology solutions.
- 8+ years of hands-on Databricks experience.
- Strong expertise with Apache Spark (PySpark or Scala).
- Extensive SQL and Python programming experience.
- Experience with ETL/ELT pipeline development.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing and dimensional modeling (Star/Snowflake).
- Experience with Delta Lake and Lakehouse architecture.
- Experience developing Databricks SQL Dashboards and Databricks Apps.
- Experience implementing data governance, security, and quality frameworks.
- Experience with Lakeflow Declarative Pipelines (DLT).
- Experience scheduling and orchestrating workloads using Lakeflow Jobs or Airflow.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Public Sector or State Government experience.
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer (Associate or Professional).
- CI/CD experience using Git-based workflows and DevOps practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable data solutions using Databricks.
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Apache Spark (PySpark or Scala).
- Develop and manage Lakeflow Declarative Pipelines (DLT) and Lakeflow Jobs.
- Implement Delta Lake and Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
- Design dimensional data models and enterprise data warehouses.
- Develop Databricks SQL dashboards, applications, and reporting solutions.
- Implement data governance, data quality, validation, and security best practices.
- Optimize workload performance, scalability, monitoring, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver enterprise data solutions.
- Communicate technical concepts and business insights effectively.
