About The Position

University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors, Inc. is currently looking for a Systems Administrator for our Tempe, AZ location. The Systems Administrator position is responsible for supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining the Companies computer servers and networks.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in server-domain system management supporting 200+ users.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Experience with scripting or computer developing/programming desired.
  • Microsoft Certifications preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management
  • Ability to organize special programs for IT Department
  • Experience with VMware a must
  • Expert level with Windows 2016 and 2019 is a must
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Maintains a professional manner in actions and appearance when representing UMEC.
  • Must prioritize in a fast-paced, hands-on, multi-task environment.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to perform basic business mathematical functions.
  • Must work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work independently or in groups under a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must effectively manage time and details.
  • Must interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have organizational skills in handling & archiving technical data.
  • Must comply with all operating policies, procedures, plans, and programs.
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customer, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Work on helpdesk tickets and provides quality customer service to staff and clients.
  • Design, install, configure, and test Microsoft Windows Server OSs with all roles-features.
  • Configure, monitor, and resolve issues on current versions of Windows Server, along with its various roles, such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, and others
  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Microsoft Windows server operating systems and applications and other systems as appropriate, and will recognize and troubleshoot problems with server hardware and applications software.
  • Develop, write, update, and maintain a computer programs or software packages to handle specific jobs, such as Microsoft Windows active directory and domain related roles, tracking inventory, storing or retrieving data, or controlling other equipment.
  • Create and maintain VMware hosts and guest operating systems
  • Diagnose, recognize and troubleshoot problems with server hardware and applications software.
  • Configure and maintain Veeam backups.
  • Maintain intranet site utilizing most recent technologies.
  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
  • Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
  • Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
  • Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records.
  • Research new technology and implement or recommend its implementation.
  • Establishing and documenting standards and procedures, maintaining inventory of technological devices, working with outside vendors, and maintaining backup systems.
  • The job requires flexibility to coordinate with other schedules and may require work after normal business hours.
  • Depending on the layout of the business, significant physical activity is also potentially necessary.
  • Performance network analysis and troubleshooting
  • Work off hours as required for project work
  • Perform other duties as assigned
