The Systems Administrator administers all of The University of Montana Foundation servers and applications under limited supervision. Assists with technical support problems and issues by spotting and anticipating issues and works to proactively remedy problems and takes steps to prevent recurrence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Three years of experience in systems administration or IT infrastructure management roles
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration, Azure services and infrastructure, and Identity management (Entra ID/Azure AD)
  • Experience managing and supporting SaaS platforms
  • Experience with Intune/Endpoint Management.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell or other scripting tools
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., M365 Administrator, Azure Fundamentals)

Responsibilities

  • Manages Foundation servers and workstations in Active Directory and Microsoft Azure environments, including all OS and application updates.
  • Manages Azure resources including virtual machines, storage accounts, networking, and identity services.
  • Monitors security alerts and responds to incidents using Microsoft Defender, SentinelOne and related tools.
  • Implements and maintains data best practice security practices in compliance with NIST and other governing bodies and regulations.
  • Administers and supports Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Maintains accurate documentation of systems, processes, and configurations.
  • Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality
