About The Position

The City of O'Fallon is seeking a knowledgeable, solutions‑driven Systems Administrator to join our Information Technology team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of the city's information systems-directly supporting the services our community relies on every day.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of IT theories, systems analysis methods, and industry best practices
  • Knowledge of installing, repairing, and maintaining hardware, software, and peripherals
  • Strong understanding of computers and job‑related software
  • Skill in diagnosing and solving technical problems
  • Skill in preparing clear and accurate administrative reports
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to information technology
  • One to two years of experience related to the essential duties of the position
  • One to two years of experience with SAN/Storage setup, installation, and administration
  • VMware administration experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft SharePoint administration and Microsoft SQL experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Manage the city's virtual server operations
  • Install, maintain, secure, and support network services including email, internet, and remote access
  • Design, evaluate, recommend, and support hardware such as servers, workstations, routers, switches, wireless devices, firewalls, and backup systems
  • Perform routine and scheduled system backups
  • Provide technical support for servers, workstations, and other technology assets
  • Install, configure, and maintain software applications
  • Implement and monitor network security detection tools and software
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair telecommunications equipment
  • Provide help desk support to end users
  • Perform related duties as assigned
